On Saturday 20 September, during its annual graduation, Omni Aviation Training Center (OATC) announced their choice of a fleet renewal with the Elixir aircraft. With Approved Training Organisations in France, UK, Greece, Spain and now Portugal, Elixir Aircraft is continuing its European expansion at a time when most flight schools are considering renewing their fleets with modern, safer, low-carbon aircraft.
Omni Aviation Training Center (OATC), based at Cascais Aerodrome is one of the most traditional flight schools in Portugal established and operating since 1998. Since 2007, as part of the growth of the Omni group, OATC has been an independent company and has been welcoming more and more students in order to meet the demands of Omni Group airlines, operators in Portugal and elsewhere.
“We would like to thank Omni for their confidence. This is another milestone for Elixir Aircraft and we are proud to be chosen to replace their traditional fleet, after their deep analysis and understanding of what the Elixir can offer. We designed the 4th generation aircraft to contribute to the excellence of future pilot training and bring a more sustainable aviation. Our cutting-edge technology will bring more safety, performance and reliability to the training” said Arthur Léopold-Léger, President and Co-founder of Elixir Aircraft.
“OATC is entering a new phase: more modern aircraft, stronger airline-style training, and more flying opportunities for our students. We are moving from legacy trainers to next-generation platforms, and the Elixir represents the real leap forward. With a full glass cockpit, advanced safety features such as a whole-aircraft parachute and autopilot level mode, and the support from Green Aero Lease to ensure maximum operational capacity while guaranteeing carbon neutrality by offsetting all carbon emissions, the Elixir perfectly embodies the safety, efficiency, and sustainability we want for the next generation of pilots. fully aligning with our commitment to quality over quantity.” said Dylan van Haasen, Head of Training of OATC.
About Elixir Aircraft
Elixir Aircraft is a French aircraft manufacturer founded in 2015 to meet the challenges of global light aviation. Based in La Rochelle, it has over 200 employees and is recruiting massively. Elixir Aircraft designed and has been building a 4th-generation two-seater aircraft, certified EASA CS-23 since 2020 and FAA FAR Part-23 since 22th July, 2025. Elixir Aircraft uses technology from the world of competitive sailing, the “Carbon Oneshot” (in one piece), to simplify structures. More simplicity means fewer failures, so greater safety, but also less maintenance, and lower costs ($50/h fuel and maintenance).
There are 35 Elixir aircraft currently in operation, with over 300 of the 4th-generation Elixir aircraft on the order book (firm orders, pre-orders and letters of intent). In June 2023, the French President announced a 13-million euro subsidy for Elixir Aircraft. In early 2024, Elixir Aircraft announced the closing of its development financing for the next 5 years, with a budget of 40 million euros. In June 2025, Elixir Aircraft was chosen by ENAC (École Nationale de l’Aviation Civile) to renew its fleet of VFR aircraft. Elixir Aircraft is preparing to open a new 15,000 m2 facility in La Rochelle and another in Sarasota, Florida.
